Currently I attend The University of Memphis, Go Tigers. My home town is 3 hours away. I am currently recieveing hope scholorship of $4000. My parents try to help me but can not come up with enough cash. I will get a job this summer to try to pay for my school for the fall of 2008. I should make atleast 5000.I plan to not work during the school since I will be taking 16-18 hours of Mechanical Engineering courses. My titution runs about 6000 and my apartment will be about 6000 a year plus the cost of food. How can I get the money to go to school?
First go to the financial aid office at your school to ensure it is not too late to apply for additional financial aid. They most likely will tell you to fill out a FASFA form. Apply for financial aid using the FAFSA forms that can be found at www.FAFSA.ed.gov. Choose your school on the form to send your financial information. The school will provide you with any additional grants, funds or low interest government loans that you are eligible for to try to cover your costs. If the school does not cover private housing, you will need to take a private educational loan offered by private banks. (Try studentloans.com)
The scholarship is great but are you not receiving loans and grants through the FAFSA you definately could get that money covered by them, go to your financial aid office and talk to them, you may have to take a loan, but most of us have or are in order to take care of school. Sucks your parents are poor but I am sure the financial aid office will work with you.
You may want to try getting a loan from the student union.. alternatively, some of the banks do have 'education' loans facilities too..
Apply for a loan. Many students do; I have one! Yes, you will have to pay it back after you graduate, of course; at least it will enable you to continue going to school. Talk to your parents about getting a loan and see what they think.
I'm in the same situation. I just decided to get a loan, that took care of my expenses along with my fafsa.
If you are an american citizen just go to www.FAFSA.com and get a federal student loan. Good terms and you don't have to pay until after you graduate. Go for it.
Only two ways I know are work (the best) and student loans. Just don't do Citibank, they love to jack that rate uuuuuuuuuuuuup
Why not try to get a student loan or personal loan from the bank. maybe try a bursary program?
I used a site that helped me get money fast... check out http://www.helpgetfunded.com you will see what i mean... good luck!

There is tons of stuff to do in Memphis! We love going there. Here are some suggestions: Try to go to Sun Studios. They give a short and sweet tour but, the people that have recorded here are just amazing! If you like music this is a must! Doesn’t matter what kind the “greats” have recorded here and walking in their foot steps is just amazing! Sun Studios is not just about Elvis. http://www.sunstudio.com Eat some BBQ! You are in Memphis after all, I would also suggest trying the fried pickles. I know sounds weird but they are true yummyness! Also try the fired green tomatoes. You can get them almost anywhere what a true southern treat! Neely’s Bar-B-Q is wonderful! I highly recommend going there! You can also try Pig on Beale, Alfred’s and Coky’s they all have great que! Check out the Memphis Rock and Soul Museum this place was cool. They highlight all the musical artist from Ottis Redding to Elvis. You get an audio tour which is well done and the history of Rock and Soul. http://www.memphisrocknsoul.org Of course there are the good old Ducks of Memphis (many other cities have these) The ducks are busses/boats so you get a tour on land and in the water. Pretty cool if you have never done anything like this before. I think the tour last about 2 hours here. Great way to see the city. http://www.memphisducks.com You can also take a river cruise they have all kinds of them for any budget. Some are just a tour and others are like a dinner cruise. The skyline from the river here is really pretty. Most of the boats have a bar and snack for purchase, and most have coupons on their website or at the visitor’s center to save you some cash. http://www.memphisriverboats.net Ride the trolley’s they are a great way to see the sites of the city fast and really are a nice type of public transport. They go all over and you can get to most attractions using them. They are really neat just to be in an old trolley! Be sure you have the correct fair because they do not make change for you. http://matatransit.com The Delta Blues Museum I also thought was interesting, if you like music and blues. They have all kinds of stuff here and they really present the information in a great way. http://www.deltabluesmuseum.org Depending on when you were planning on going, go see a Memphis Cardinals Baseball game! The tickets are cheap and the stadium is just AWESOME!! Great selection on food and drinks and cheaper than your average park. I love going to this place! The games are always great! Oh yeah let's don't forget Graceland, home of Elvis. Need I say more? Even if you are not an Elvis fan it is pretty interesting. They have all kinds of tours in all price ranges. Really a pretty good time! The Memphis zoo is always nice. They have done a great job putting it together. If you are taking kids they will love it, and well even if you aren't taking kids adults love it too. Don't forget to check out the Peabody ducks in the hotel, they are fun to see and hey it is free! Located near Beale Street. Speaking of that don't forget to check out Beale Street there is always a party going on there! They have some great clubs everything from jazz to rock. They also have some wonderful places to eat there! You don't want to miss BB Kings AWESOME place!! Okay moving on to the shopping here are some of my favorite places: If you can go to main street Collierville. They have tons of little unique shops and great restaurants. A nice place to stroll. Located outside of Memphis it does give you a different shopping experience. http://www.mainstreetcollierville.org/ If you like Vintage clothing you are going to want to check out Flashback! They have everything form the 20's-70's. Clothes, shoes, home furnishings you name it they have it. I love going there! http://www.flashbackmemphis.com/ If you are looking for places like Macy's and other stores like this then you will want to check out the Hickory Ridge Mall. Wonderful place, they even have a carousel and the food here is just wonderful! You can find everything you need here. http://www.hickoryridge.com/ I also like to shop at Muse. They have a ton of different stuff for both men and women. Things you can't find in a mall. If you love to dress on the cutting edge and different from everyone else this is the place for you. http://www.memphismuse.com/ South Main also has some unique places to shop; from galleries to fashion this is a great place to go. They also have several open markets here. You can find all kinds of things here! They also have some really good restaurants in the area. http://www.southmainmemphis.org/ The Peabody has several "over" priced shops in it but, it is fun to go walk around and look. The hotel and the lobby are just amazing, and hey take a second to see the ducks. Shops there are over rated but a good time anyway. Lakeland Factory Outlet Store. Located outside of Memphis so you will need to drive. They have an Old Time Pottery here which I just love! One of my favorite home stores around! They also have several clothing stores here with wonderful discount prices! No website but, here is the address: Address 3536 Canada Road City/State/Zip Lakeland, TN 38002 Phone 901-388-5707 There is also the Laurelwood Shopping center, again not in Memphis but close. They have a ton of unique stores and this place is set up so cool. Very open and very fun to shop at! http://www.laurelwoodmemphis.com/about.html I would also contact the Memphis visitors center and request your FREE visitors packet. Tons of info in there, maps and COUPONS!!! They really will save you a ton of money! http://www.memphistravel.com/visitors.asp Hope this helps you have a great trip!!
As a native of memphis, my kids and i always enjoyed mud island. i feel that a dinner cruise on the riverboats is a must, your kids will remember it forever. make sure you stand outside when coming back in, the bridge is lit up and the sunsets behind it , its just beautiful. the other must see is the zoo, the cat country is amazing. you might want to check to see if anythings going on at the pyramid too, its an awesome arena with a fantastic imax theatre. beale street is really neat too, make sure to eat at the speghetti warehouse and don't leave before enjoying some memphis bbq(its a must) enjoy your trip. and be careful
There are some historical places.. malls you can try wolfchase, if u like urban clothes go to the one near winchester road (forgot the name) places to eat near wolfchase

They have all kinds of stuff here and they really present the information in a great way. http://www.deltabluesmuseum.org Well I hope this helps you have a great trip, sorry you are on business and not on vacation!
The National Civil Rights Museum is great. The Memphis Zoo is one of the best in the country, although it is sweltering, (something to consider if you're visiting soon) it was 105 today. Jillian's in the Peabody Mall is fun for bowling, arcade, bar, restaurant. Take a walk through there. Rock n' Soul Museum (at FedEx Forum), Sun Studios, Graceland (of course). This week is 'Death Week', so keep in mind- Graceland will be CRAZY.Take a ride on the trolley (the 'riverfront loop' will give you a quick tour of the city). Ride The Ducks is a wonderful tour, it is a must see. Check out ridetheducks.com, located on Beale St. At night, go to Beale St., it is lots of fun. You can catch a movie at the drive-in on Summer Ave. or take a cruise on the Memphis Queen Line. memphisqueen.com. Also, check the schedule for the Redbirds (located near Beale St.) if you like baseball. memphisredbirds.com All of the restaurants on Beale St. are wonderful. You have got to try our barbecue.

I really like Memphis Grant. Memphis really sounds like a strong boy name and it is super cute for a baby. I like Grant too, Memphis Grant sounds awesome! You made a good choice if you go with that one. I don't really care for the name Noble and Noble Grant sounds like a loan you would receive for college or something. Go with Memphis Grant, I LOVE IT!!
Memphis Grant. Noble Grant sounds too much like an award you would receive.
I guess Memphis Grant out of these choices. How about Grant Noble? Noble is a nice middle name, but could be rough going through school.
The only one I like is Grant and for a first name. I don't like Memphis or Noble. You should name him what you want to , just remember that he has to live with it for the rest of his life.
Memphis Grant
Neither. Memphis is not a good choice. I generally don't care for city names on children, and I just really don't like the way Memphis sounds. Noble is horribly pretentious. Not a good choice for a child at all. Grant is ok, but you need to rethink the first name entirely.
To be honest, I dont like either. Would you want those names especially when he is older & out in the professional world trying to get a professional job. How bout Grant for a 1st name?
Noble Grant
Casey Grant Cayden Grant Jayden James Logan Aiden Brady -James i dont really like either of those first names i think you should choose grant as the first name Grant Lee Memphis Lee -James If i had to choose i would say Noble Grant =] here are some sites to help with middle names http://www.babynamegenie.com/ and first names http://www.babynamesworld.com/ i hope this helped [= CONGRATS ON THE BABY
I think if you switched it up and used Grant Noble that would be better, but that's just my opinion.

Im going into my senior with a 2.5...im going to the university of Memphis hopefully. My cousin is going there as well and she has a lower gpa than me and she got accepted. I have a job, so can't i afford a public university that's close to home? No PLEASE do not suggest a community college. Not an option...can you give advice in what can help me pay for it? thats what i really need and want, like how soon should i apply there, and what, scholarships should i look for? If it helps i took five honors classes and I'm going into my senior year. I need help!!! And serious advice, about going to that college. No other one. I will give a best, answer.
It's not that hard to get into the U. of Memphis, so you should be able to get accepted. But you're not a great student and college is going to be a lot harder than high school. It'll require a lot more work to maintain a 2.0 GPA and stay in school. You don't want to end up with a ton of loans to pay back if you can't manage to graduate. Community college is both cheaper and easier, allowing you to boost your GPA and then transfer to Memphis later. You aren't likely to qualify for any scholarships with your GPA unless you qualify for need-based aid at Memphis. Contact the financial aid office at the U. of Memphis now, tell them that you'll be applying there in the fall and ask about their financial aid programs.
A 2.5 GPA isn't bad. A GPA score of 3 is 80%. A GPA of 2.5 is 65-69%. So it isn't really bad. It's a C+.
Serious advice. Reconsider your CC. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/tran...
